SPECIAL MEETING

August 22, 2005

5:30 P.M. Chair Lowe called the meeting to order and asked for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Councilors Present: Chair Forrest Lowe, W. David Watson, Jacqueline A. Sartoris, Robert A. Galloupe, Douglas A. Rice, and Barbara A. Desmarais.

Councilors Absent: Louise V. Ansari, Joanne T. King.

Town Staff Present: Donald H. Gerrish, Town Manager; Elin M. Gould, Deputy Town Clerk; John Eldridge, Finance Director; Mat Eddy, Director of Economic Development; and the TV video crew.

139. The Town Council will hear public comments on establishing the Brunswick Publishing Company Tax Increment Financing District, and will take any appropriate action.

Chair Lowe announced that this was a continuation of a public hearing from the Town

Council meeting of August 15, 2005.

Mat Eddy, Director of Economic Development, said the two key components have not changed from the last meeting: a credit enhancement and reimbursement for expenses. The Tax Increment Financing District itself includes lots one, two, three, and four of the new business park extension, approximately a twenty acre parcel. There are a few clarifications from the previous draft, but, Mr. Eddy said, it is essentially the same and accomplishes what was set out from the start.

Chair Lowe opened the public hearing. Hearing no comments, he closed the public hearing.

Councilor Sartoris moved, Councilor Watson seconded, to establish the Brunswick Publishing Company Tax Increment Financing District. The motion carried with six (6) yeas.

The meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
