General Information and Application Process
This page contains current position vacancies for the Town of Brunswick. Unless otherwise noted, a Town of Brunswick employment application form is required for all jobs listed.  The application may be downloaded from this page, completed on your computer, and faxed or mailed to the Department of Human Resources.

Completed, original applications must be received by the Town Manager’s Office by the deadline stated in any position posting.  Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to open the application form, which can be completed on your computer or printed blank and completed by hand. The Town of Brunswick does not accept applications for unadvertised positions. The one exception is the Police Department The Town will accept applications to hold and consider for a future hiring process, during which an eligibility list will be established.

Open Positions:

Assistant Town Engineer:  The Town of Brunswick is seeking a candidate for the position of Assistant Town Engineer. Working within established policies and procedures; the selected candidate will provide technical and professional assistance to the Town Engineer in the performance of civil engineering, surveying and other technical functions. This position will primarily work in the areas of GIS and Mapping, permitting (street opening, obstruction, and driveway entrance), project planning and construction inspection.  Other areas of assistance will include traffic control, sign inventory management, subdivision/site planning inspection and facilities management.

The selected candidate will be self-motivated and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The proven ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to employees, officials, consultants, the general public and others will be of utmost importance, while maintaining good public relations.

Reporting to the Town Engineer; this position will require considerable knowledge of public works functions. Applicants should hold the equivalent to the completion of a four-year college degree.  Alternatively; applicants may also have the equivalent combination of education and experience for the successful performance of all essential functions.  A degree in civil engineering or a related field is preferred.  An extensive knowledge of computers, ability to use desktop programs and proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS initiatives is required.

The starting range for this position will be $41,945 to $51,035 annually. Marine Warden: The Brunswick Police Department is a progressive department, devoted to community involvement, utilizing a team-oriented approach. The Town of Brunswick Police Department seeks an exceptional candidate for the position of patrol officer to be assigned as the duties as the Marine Warden. The ideal candidate for this full-time/year-round position will be seeking employment in the area of enforcement and conservation pertaining to marine and environmental laws. The selected candidate will enforce the Town’s Ordinance, as well as State Statutes.  Duties include, but are not limited to, patrol to detect illegal shell fishing and/or other environmental violations.  This position will assist with pollution identification efforts, water quality collection and any scientific studies that determine the health of the local shellfish industry.

Our excellent benefit package includes competitive pay and offers a lateral entry option commensurate with experience. The Marine Warden is compensated at a specialty assignment rate which ranges from $21.27 to $26.24 per hour (as of July 1, 2018) for a candidate with no completed college credits.  With a four-year degree; the pay range for this position is $25.24 per hour to $29.74 per hour.  The Department highly considers prior experience when determining the starting pay rate.  Town benefits include options for health, dental and/or life insurances; short-term disability, retirement plan choices, educational reimbursement, paid vacations, sick time and paid holidays/floaters.  Additional benefits include educational assistance, physical fitness bonus ($350 to $1,445 per year), paid gym memberships (up to $350 per year), yearly clothing allowance and a 20-year retirement option.

The Town of Brunswick Police Department continues to offer a $5,000 signing bonus to existing MCJA Certified Full-Time Law Enforcement Officers.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and attained an Associate’s Degree (or 60 college credits) or equivalent work/military history with specialization in criminal justice preferred. A minimum score of 50 is required on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) ALERT test. Truck Driver:  The Town of Brunswick Public Works Department seeks a safety-conscious operator for the position of Truck Driver.

This position requires heavy lifting and outdoor physical labor in all weather conditions. Experience with winter snow plowing is helpful.  A valid Class B/CDL license with a good driving record is required.  The leading candidate will undergo and must successfully pass a pre-employment physical including a chemical/drug screening test.

This position is full-time (40-hours per week). Assistant Tax Collector:  The Tax Division of the Town of Brunswick Finance Department seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Tax Collector.

Tasks for this position include the accurate collection of taxes and other municipal revenues. The incumbent will process Motor Vehicle registrations, Boat, Snowmobile and ATV registrations and Passport applications and will perform other Finance Department functions as required.

The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills to support Brunswick citizens as it relates to Tax Office functions. Strong attention to detail is a requirement in the handling of cash and credit card transactions.  Skilled use and familiarity with computer applications is highly desirable.  Prior knowledge of the operational practices within a municipal Tax Office is helpful.

This position is 40 hours per week with a starting pay range of $16.11 to $17.80, commensurate with skills and experience.
