General Information and Application Process
This page contains current position vacancies for the Town of Brunswick. Unless otherwise noted, a Town of Brunswick employment application form is required for all jobs listed.  The application may be downloaded from this page, completed on your computer, and faxed or mailed to the Department of Human Resources.

Completed, original applications must be received by the Town Manager’s Office by the deadline stated in any position posting.  Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to open the application form, which can be completed on your computer or printed blank and completed by hand. Completed applications, along with resume, cover letter and other supporting documents, may be returned or delivered by U.S. Mail or in person to Human Resources Department, 85 Union Street, Brunswick, ME 04011. The Town of Brunswick does not accept applications for unadvertised positions. The one exception is the Police Department The Town will accept applications to hold and consider for a future hiring process, during which an eligibility list will be established.

Open Positions:

TV Master Control Operator (Part-time):  Brunswick TV3, the Government and Public Access Channel operated by the Town of Brunswick, is seeking talented individuals to fill the position of TV Master Control Operator. This part-time position reports directly to the IT/Cable Manager.

In this position, you will be responsible for the operation of all television transmission and production equipment used to cablecast and record municipal meetings, as well as the audio and presentation systems utilized in the meeting room.

This part-time/year-round position involves changing work days and hours. Shifts are mostly in the evenings, to include some late afternoon meeting start times.  As the length of meetings is unknown, it is required that the operator be available until the meeting has ended.  It also requires the ability to work independently.

The successful candidate will have some technical background in television cable casting, broadcasting or related experience, as well as strong computer skills. The starting hourly rate is $12.50, with a three-hour minimum.

Human Services Administrative Assistant/Floater:  The Town of Brunswick Department of Human Services is re-advertising for an Administrative Assistant // Floater to support the process of determining both original and continued eligibility for General Assistance. The successful candidate for this full-time position will be a self-motivated and resourceful individual with the ability to multi-task and work with diverse populations in both Brunswick and Bath.  Responsibilities involve administrative work, including client intake, maintaining detailed accounts and client records, as well as preparing state and local reports.  Position will also assist other Town departments as needed. Requirements: excellent organizational, customer service and administrative skills; proven communications skills; prior experience in the General Assistance or related Social Services field preferred; ability to work independently and with confidential issues.  Familiarity with Munis and Trio software helpful.

Maintenance Worker:  We are seeking two new employees to perform general maintenance in parks, facilities, and buildings operated by the Parks & Recreation Department. Daily work includes a full range of maintenance at all Town Parks and facilities.  Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, turf maintenance, custodial work, locking of gates, minor equipment maintenance, snow removal, and landscape work (mowing, weed whacking, etc.)

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; a driving record in good standing and past experience with building and turf/landscape maintenance. Both are full-time positions of 40 hours per week. The respective work shifts are as follows:

Position A: Monday through Friday (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)**

Position B: Weekend position: Thursday through Monday (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)**

**Several annual Department events will necessitate additional night and weekend hours.

The starting hourly rate is $14.20 to $15.36 per hour. School Crossing Guard:  The Town of Brunswick is seeking individuals for the position of School Crossing Guard. This position is during the school year only and will be ten hours per week.  The pay is $10.50 per hour.

The Candidate must have ability to work flexible hours (two hours per day: morning from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and afternoon from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.) in all weather conditions. The hiring process includes a thorough background check.

The Town of Brunswick Police Department seeks existing certified Law Enforcement Officers for an opening within the Patrol Division. 

The Brunswick Police Department is a progressive department, devoted to community involvement, utilizing a team-oriented approach.  To fulfill our current mission statement, we believe in up-to-date training and offer other educational opportunities to our Officers to deal with today’s law enforcement needs.  We opened a new Station in October of 2013, located at the corner of Pleasant and Stanwood Streets.

Our excellent benefit package includes competitive pay and offers a lateral entry option commensurate with experience. Our base pay is $20.00 to $21.72 per hour.  The Department highly considers prior experience when determining the starting pay rate.  With the Department’s educational incentive benefit and a four-year degree; the pay range for this position will be $21.86 to 23.89 per hour.  Town benefits include options for health, dental and/or life insurances; short-term disability, retirement plan choices, educational reimbursement, paid vacations, sick time and paid holidays/floaters.  Additional benefits include educational assistance/incentive, physical fitness bonus ($350 to $1,445 per year), paid gym memberships (up to $350 per year), yearly clothing allowance and a 20-year retirement option.  A $2,500 bonus will be paid to the successful candidate upon commencement of employment and an additional $2,500 on their one-year anniversary.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must hold a Certified Maine Law Enforcement Officer status or an equivalent certification from another State. In addition, you must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and have attained an Associate’s Degree (or 60 college credits) or equivalent work/military history with a specialization in criminal justice preferred.  A minimum score of 50 is required on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT Test.  While past completion of the MCJA PAT is helpful; the Brunswick Police Department will conduct a mandatory Physical Agility Test for all candidates.  This will be scheduled accordingly following application.  Clearance by the candidate’s physician will be required in order to proceed.  Leading candidates will undergo an Oral Board interview, background investigations, polygraph/psychological and a medical exam.
