The Department of Planning and Development is responsible for a wide variety of municipal activities, including Comprehensive Planning, Downtown and Neighborhood Planning, Zoning Ordinance Amendments, Development Review, Village Review District Design Review, Natural Resources, Sign/Building/Plumbing/Electrical Permits, as well as enforcement of the Town of Brunswick Zoning Ordinance rules and regulations. Through our work we aid in helping to protect Brunswick’s community, economic, natural and historical resources.

The Department of Marine Resources (DMR) has rescheduled their public hearing for the Mere Point Oyster Co. Aquaculture Application.  The public hearing will now occur as follows:

THE DEPARTMENT OF MARINE RESOURCES WILL CONDUCT THE HEARING, NOT THE TOWN OF BRUNSWICK.

Mere Point Oyster Co Aquaculture Application to the State of Maine Department of Marine Resources.

The purpose of the hearing is to consider an application filed by Mere Point Oyster Company, LLC for a 40-acre, 10-year aquaculture lease located south of Bunganuc Rock, west of Mere Point Peninsula, Maquoit Bay, Brunswick, Maine, for suspended culture of American/Eastern oysters, European oysters, bay scallops, sea scallops, and quahogs.

Written Comments: Per the DMR, to be considered in this case, written comments, including faxes and emails, regarding this application must be received by the Department no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 17, 2018, the day before the public hearing.
