Patriots’ Day Holiday Schedule

Public Works announces it will be closed on Monday, April 17th in observance of the Patriots’ Day Holiday. For those on our Monday curbside collection route, collection will take place as usual, please have your materials curbside by 7 am. Public Works & all Town offices will be closed on Monday, April 17th. The landfill is regularly closed on Mondays and will be open as usual on Tuesday, April 18th (8 am to 3:30 pm).

Spring Clean-Up April 18th thru April 29th

Public Works announces the annual Spring Clean-Up period begins on Tuesday, April 18th and includes easy access to the Graham Road Landfill (no permit required for the 2 week period) and extended weekend hours at the landfill. Please note Public Works does not do a curbside bulky item collection and disposal fees still apply to most items taken to the landfill.

During the clean-up period the landfill hours of operation will remain 8 am to 3:30 pm. The landfill regular daily schedule outside of the clean-up period is that it is open Tuesday thru Saturday and it is normally closed on Sunday and Monday. During the clean-up period the landfill will be open on Sunday, April 23rd and Monday, April 24th.

Roads Closed to Heavy Loads
Ended on Friday, April 14, 2017

The annual posting of roads that started on February 27, 2017 ended for all roads on April 14th. Certain town roads are posted annually to protect the roads from heavy truck traffic during early spring conditions when the road bed first begins to thaw and the base remains saturated with water and unable to support the wheel loads. Posting is required to prevent significant damage to the road pavement.

We also administer the contract for the curbside removal of residential trash and recycling.

For a road or storm drain problem after hours please call the Police Department at 725-5521 and they will contact a Public Works representative. Public Works does not handle water or sewer problems; if you have an emergency request please contact the Brunswick-Topsham Water District at 729-9956 or the Brunswick Sewer District at 729-0148.
