Brunswick Town Council Acts to Support Base Redevelopment Activity

Following public hearings on September 7, 2010, the Brunswick Town Council voted to approve submission of Community Development Block Grant applications on behalf of Kestrel Aircraft Company and Maine Tool & Machine, LLC. Kestrel Aircraft Company plans to create 250 aircraft manufacturing jobs at Brunswick Landing, the soon-to-be redeveloped Naval Air Station Brunswick. CDBG funds, which will leverage project financing from the company, other investors and the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, will provide working capital for facility improvements and to certify Kestrel’s JP10 composite turbo propeller general aviation aircraft. Maine Tool & Machine, a local manufacturer of precision machined products, plans to expand and create seven jobs. CDBG funds, to be matched with project financing from the company and MRRA, will provide working capital for building improvements. The Department of Economic & Community Development is located on the second floor of the Hawthorne School, 46 Federal Street, just a few blocks from Town Hall.
