On
January 15, 2008 JHR Development started their Planning Board process
and presented the plan to the Planning Staff.
This is the
latest draft they presented
as of March 2008:

The Maine
Street Station Implementation Committee met Thursday December 13th at the Municipal Meeting Facility on McKeen Street. At
this meeting we discussed
questions and comments that were made the previous two weeks
and the timeline of the Maine
Street Station Project through the end of 2007. (The summary of
Questions and Comments is unable to be posted, please contact the
Economic and Community Development office for a copy of this report.)

The JHR
Development group publicly presented their
working plan on
Thursday November 29, 2007 at the Maine Street Station
Implementation Committee's meeting. A copy of the PowerPoint
presentation given November 29th 2007 by Arrowstreet Architects can be
seen here. As is seen above, there are
similarities and differences between the original master plan created by
the community and the one from the developers. Many changes have
to do with the parking issue. We continue to work with the
developers and determine best fits for public spaces, architectural
treatments, and use of the space. We welcome feedback from the
public, either to the Economic and Community Development Office, the
committee members or the developers themselves. On Thursday
December 13th, at 5:00PM in the Municipal Meeting Facility and on
the local cable channel 3, we will address concerns that have been raised
during this period. Several Streetscapes were presented at the
November 29th meeting as well.

green end, and below is the potential inn on the corner of Nobel and
Maine Streets.

The Maine Street Station project finished the 30 day comment period for
discussion concerning the Voluntary Response Action Plan (VRAP).
The VRAP has been prepared to describe the remedial actions to be
undertaken on the MSS property between Maine Street and Union Streets in
Brunswick, Maine, and on the abutting Bowdoin College Property
(including the vacant property and possibly the parking lot, but
excluding the area beneath the McLellan Building. A Public Hearing
was held on July 12 at the Brunswick Municipal Meeting
Facility. On July 26th the VRAP plan was voted to be
accepted by members present.
In accordance with the
Cooperative Agreement between the Town and the EPA, the Town is required
to prepare a Community Relations Plan that outlines the Town’s plan for
involving the public during the cleanup process. The purpose of the
Community Relations Plan (CRP) is to
identify the communication strategies that will address the needs and
concerns of the citizens of the Town of Brunswick, particularly the
residents who are directly or potentially affected by the proposed
remediation of coal ash located at the Site. This CRP describes how the
Town has involved and will continue to involve affected residents, Town
officials, and local organizations in the decision-making process
regarding the environmental remediation efforts at the Site. It is
available for public review at the Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant
Street, the Brunswick Town Hall, 28 Federal Street, or the Brunswick
Economic Development office, during regular
business hours. Please feel free to call,
email or visit the Economic
Development office with your questions or comments.
