Meet the Members of the MSSIC
Sarah Brayman: Secretary
of the College Neighbors Association since 2005. Graduate of Brunswick High
School; returned to Brunswick five years ago. Previously, worked as an
international policy analyst in Washington DC. Graduate degree in Technology
and Environmental Policy; post-graduate training and research in urban and
regional planning. Currently, self-employed as an artist.
Marybeth Burbank:
Ten years as Brunswick Town
Councilor representing Downtown District. Founder of the North West
Brunswick Neighborhood Association. Early advocate for passenger rail
service to Maine and to Brunswick. Currently Mid Coast Director on
Train Riders/Northeast Board.
Barbara Desmarais:
Lifelong Brunswick resident and former Town Councilor. Office manager at
Briggs Advertising in Bath. Public service has included Arts Are Elementary,
Cumberland County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener, Pejepscot
Historical Society, Town Common’s Committee, Open Space and Recreation Task
Force, and Comprehensive Plan Update Committee. She holds a BS in Business
Administration from University of Maine - Orono.
Mathew Eddy: Brunswick Director of
Economic Development. Served in the planning and community development
field for over 25 years. Municipal projects include downtown revitalization,
community development, housing rehabilitation, economic development, and the
development of downtown business and cultural association. Participated in
comprehensive planning projects and in individual master plan projects as
planning/development director in Brunswick, Bath, and Westbrook.
Margo Knight: Town Councilor,
downtown Brunswick.
Don Gerrish: Brunswick Town Manager.
Mary Heath: Has lived
in-town Brunswick for 15 years. A Registered Nurse and Licensed Clinical
Social Worker currently with Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Lewiston.
Practices nursing at Mid Coast and Parkview Hospitals as an independent
contractor. Active with peace and social justice organizations. Member
Brunswick Park and Garden Project.
Carol Liscovitz:
A registered architect in both Maine and
Massachusetts with experience in residential, educational, commercial and
institutional developments. A resident of Brunswick for 19 years. Served on
the Planning Board since 1997.
Forrest Lowe:
Owner of a business consulting practice specializing in non-profit organizations
and small businesses. Previously worked as a manager at L.L. Bean for 25 years
in Finance Management, focusing on procurement and operations. A former
Brunswick Town Council member for eight years who currently serves on the
Brunswick Local Redevelopment Authority, the Maine Street Station Committee and
a number of non-profit boards in the Midcoast area. Lived in Brunswick 26 years.
Mike Ouellet: President & Owner of
Ouellet Associates, Inc. Over 35 years in the commercial construction industry with
projects throughout the State of Maine. The construction management firm
specializes in commercial, institutional, and medical work. Ouellet Associates
most recently completed the new Brunswick Fire Station at Cooks Corner. Member
of the BEDC.
Roxane Rathje:
Representative of 150 Brunswick Downtown Association businesses and
community members, strong marketing background of over 20 years, past
Marketing Director of the Brunswick Area Chamber of Commerce, involved in
Brunswick from the first Maine Street Station proposal.
Jackie Sartoris:
District 2
Brunswick Town Councilor
for the last 6 years. A former Senior Planner at the Maine State Planning
Office, where she won a national award for her environmental work. Her
interest in the Maine Street Station project stems from her interest in
making the downtown an even better place to be, and finally telling her kids
that the empty lot won’t be empty any more.
William Torrey: Senior Vice President
for Planning and Administration & Chief Development Officer, Bowdoin
College. A
member of the Bowdoin staff since 1988 and a senior officer since 1991.
Responsible for the College's development program, public affairs and
communications, institutional planning and college relations with the local
community. Community service has included Chair of the Board for the Mid Coast
Maine United Way, Chair of the Bath School Board; membership on the Brunswick
Maine Street Station Planning and Implementation Committees and serving on the
boards of Mid Coast Hospital, the Portland Stage Company and the Maine State
Music Theatre.
