On Friday Feb. 8, 2008 during a snow storm at 1300 the Brunswick dispatchers received a request from West Bath Fire Chief for some dome clamps and the Mid Coast Haz-Mat Team ( RRT#4 )to respond to a fuel truck roll over on the Sabino Road.
Brush 2 delivered the dome clamps to the scene and they were applied over and secured the 2 dome covers.
On arrival to accident location the driver of truck and firefighters from West Bath Fire Department had placed buckets underdome cover and placed absorbent pads in stream 30 feet from truck. On scene were member from Sagadahoc Sheriffs, DEP, West Bath Fire Department, Clean Harbors, Hunter Towing, and spare oil trucks from Berts Oil service. The safety plan was discussed with all and decision to drill and tap over each tank to off load product of # 2 fuel heating oil and kerosene prior to up righting the truck. Bonding and grounding was established, pumped product into waiting trucks. Hole were plug when completed.
Approximately 1700 gallon was off loaded. The truck fuel tank was damage and also pumped prior to leaving. All left the accident scene at 19:30.
