Brunswick woman killed in accident

BRUNSWICK — A Brunswick woman was killed Monday night in a single-car crash on Old Bath Road.

The woman, whose name still had not been released today pending notification of the family, was traveling with two dogs in a Sport Utility Vehicle on Old Bath Road. When police and rescue responded to the scene, they found the SUV had driven head-on into a tree in the driveway at 225 Bath Road.

The driver was pronounced dead at Mid Coast Hospital. Two dogs who were passengers in the vehicle were taken by the Brunswick animal control officer to a local animal shelter, where they were in good condition.

"The crash appears to be alcohol related and is still under active investigation by the Brunswick Police Collision Reconstruction Unit," a release from the Brunswick Police Department states.

Update 2:12 p.m.: Brunswick police early this afternoon released the name of the woman killed Monday evening in a single-car crash on Bath Road.

Juanita Clough, 55, of James Street, was pronounced dead at Mid Coast Hospital Monday night after Brunswick police and rescue responded to 255 Bath Road, where the SUV Clough was driving had crashed head-on into a tree in the driveway.

Clough's two dogs, traveling with her at the time of the crash, were taken by the Brunswick animal control officer to a local animal shelter, where they were in good condition.

The Brunswick Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues an active investigation into the crash, which they believe "is alcohol-related," according to statement from the police department.
