Adopt - A - Hydrant  Dalmation dog with hose and a hydrant.

Hello, and welcome to the Adopt-A-Hydrant Web Page

My name is Dalmation dog wagging his tail. Fireplug and I am here to tell you about the Adopt-A-Hydrant program that my Mom has started.  You see, I am a puppy so she is always having to take me outside to play no matter what the weather is and she noticed how sad I would get when I couldn't see my best buddies , the fire hydrants.

My buddies don't get a lot of attention, but they play a big role in helping the firefighters fight fire.  They can be found down the street, at a corner or across the driveway; one should never fear, a hydrant is always near.    This program is a way for families  to play an important role in our community by keeping my buddies clear of snow and leaves so that I can still see them.  More importantly, so that the firefighters can spot them easily in an emergency.

If you decide to adopt a hydrant, don't forget to name him or her.  If you can, have someone take a “family” pictures and I can add it to my picture album.  I mail out a "Hydro-Letter" with fire safety tips and the latest adopted hydrants every month.  Oh, and I get to give out prizes.

To apply for adoption, click here and print out the form.  Completed forms may be mailed to: Brunswick Fire Department, Attn: Hydrant Program, 21 Town Hall Place, Brunswick, Maine 04011.
