A Sticky Issue...

We are often asked where fire rescue decals, such as Tot Finders can be obtained. The use of these decals has been a matter of controversy among the fire service, we no longer provide the decals for the following reasons.

The International Society of Fire Service Instructors took on the issue and adopted a policy, which reads in part:

"BE IT RESOLVED the ISFSI in fulfilling its mission to promote training and education as the component in the preservation of life and the environment from the threat of fire or other disasters publicly denounces the use of any type fire rescue decal.
AND FURTHER RESOLVE that all public and private agencies and organizations publicly denounce the use of any type fire rescue decal and, instead, actively and publicly promote early warning, residential fire sprinkler, home escape planning and central meeting places outside the home."

We at the Brunswick Fire Department agree with this resolution. Fire Rescue stickers, when they were provided in the past were often misused. They were found on toys, vehicles and front doors of homes and some that were properly placed on bedroom windows were not removed when people moved or uses changed. Brunswick's firefighters are trained to complete a thorough, rapid search in the event of a fire and we strongly encourage you to ensure that your smoke detectors work and to plan and practice your escape.
