The Brunswick Police Department is a progressive department, devoted to community involvement, utilizing a team-oriented approach.  To fulfill our current mission statement, we believe in up-to-date training and offer other educational opportunities to our officers to deal with today’s law enforcement needs.

Our excellent benefit package includes competitive pay and offers a lateral entry option commensurate with experience.  Our benefits also include educational assistance/incentive, physical fitness bonus, paid gym memberships, yearly clothing allowance, an employee/family health and dental plan option, and a 20-year retirement option.

To be considered for this outstanding opportunity, you must be at least 21 years of age,  have a valid driver’s license, and have attained an Associates Degree (or 60 college credits) or equivalent work/military history with specialization in criminal justice preferred.  In addition, you must receive a minimum score of 50 at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT Test and successfully complete a Physical Agility Test (PAT).  The Alert examination is offered at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy on the first and third Wednesday of each month.  The Town of Brunswick will offer a Physical Agility Test for all candidates, scheduled for Saturday, September 4th at 8:00 a.m. (medical clearance required).  Candidates with PAT results from MCJA will still need to test with Brunswick.  Leading candidates will undergo Oral Board interviews, background investigations, polygraph/psychological and a medical exam.

An employment application is available (along with the job description, PAT standards, and medical clearance form) at the Town Manager’s Office, 28 Federal Street, Brunswick, or at www.brunswickme.org and www.brunswickpd.org.  Applications are required and must be returned to the Town Manager’s Office with the following supporting materials:  cover letter addressed to Chief Richard Rizzo; resume; copy of valid driver’s license, and Alert score (if available) by Friday, August 20, 2010.  The Town of Brunswick is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
