Patrol Officer - Police Department  (Click on the job title to obtain a job description)

The Town of Brunswick is presently seeking candidates to establish an eligibility list for the rewarding position of Patrol Officer. If you are presently a certified Law Enforcement Officer, or aspire for a career helping others in the public safety field, we’d like to hear from you!

The Brunswick Police Department is a progressive department, devoted to community involvement, utilizing a team-oriented approach. To fulfill our current mission statement, we believe in up-to-date training and offer other educational opportunities to our officers to deal with today’s law enforcement needs.

In addition, you must receive a minimum score of 50 at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT Test and successfully complete a Physical Agility Test (PAT). The ALERT test will be offered March 19th and April 2nd at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro. Candidates must take the Brunswick PAT, offered Saturday, April 5, 2008. Leading candidates will undergo Oral Board interviews, background investigations, polygraph/physiological/and a medical exam.

TV Master Control Operator - Brunswick TV 3  (Click on the job title to obtain a job description)

Brunswick TV3, the Government and Public Access Channel operated by the Town of Brunswick, is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of TV Master Control Operator. This part-time position reports directly to the Cable Television Coordinator.

In this position, you will be responsible for the operation of all television transmission and production equipment used to cablecast and record municipal meetings, as well as the audio and presentation systems utilized in the meeting room.

This part-time, year round position requires varying working days and hours, mostly in the evenings, with some late afternoon meeting start times. As the length of meetings is unknown, it is required that the operator be available until the meeting has ended. It also requires the ability to work independently.

The successful candidate will have some technical background in television cable casting, broadcasting or related experience, as well as some computer skills. The starting hourly rate is $11.00, with a two hour minimum. Parks Ranger (Seasonal) - Parks and Recreation Department  (Click on the job title to obtain a job description)

Exciting seasonal (through November) 40-hour per week, varied schedule, position. Park Ranger provides a uniformed presence (both on foot and on bicycle) in the Brunswick Parks and the Androscoggin River Bicycle/Pedestrian Path. Ideal candidate will be responsible and energetic individual who enjoys being outdoors and shares an appreciation for the preservation of parks and their natural resources with the public. Park Rangers assist park users, discourage misuse of park property and perform some park maintenance tasks. Requirements: high school diploma/GED; additional studies in parks management or conservation law enforcement desired; must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record; Law Enforcement Pre-service course preferred; excellent people and communication skills. Seasonal Parks Laborers - Parks and Recreation Department  (Click on the job title to obtain a job description)

The Parks & Recreation Department has 5 openings for seasonal parks laborers. The positions are 40 hours a week, with occasional overtime as warranted by special events. Some weekend work is required. The openings are for the following time periods:

  • March 31 – November 28, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm

  • March 31 – August 29, 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm

  • April 21 – October 31, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm (Note: Tuesday through Saturday from April to September)

Duties include: Mowing, upkeep and daily cleanup of a variety of park areas; baseball field prep, painting, weed whacking, trash pickup, etc. Requirements: Must be able to operate small power hand tools and riding mower; able to lift and carry 50 pounds; must have license and good driving record. Criminal and driving background checks will be conducted for final candidates. Steel-toed work boots are required. Salary range is $9.35 to $9.95 per hour, DOE. School Crossing Guard - Police Department  (Click on the job title to obtain a job description)

The Town of Brunswick is seeking individuals for the position of School Crossing Guard to start in Fall, 2007. This is a 10 hour per week position. Individual must be able to work flexible hours; i.e. 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM; and be able to work in all weather conditions. The salary is $9.50 per hour. The hiring process includes a thorough background check.
