 BRUNSWICK, MAINE NAMED 2005 SPORTS ILLUSTRATED GOOD SPORTS COMMUNITY OF THE YEAR

 Dodge and National Recreation & Park Association Join SI
To Spotlight Quality Youth Sports
 

Brunswick, Maine, December 6, 2005 – In partnership with Dodge, the National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) and Sports Illustrated have named Brunswick, Maine one of eight Sports Illustrated Good Sports Communities of the Year. Brunswick, Maine and its youth-based sports programs will be featured in a special advertising section in the December 12 issue of SI and at www.sigoodsports.com.

Brunswick, Maine was chosen from the hundreds of communities nationwide that participated in the Sports Illustrated Good Sports initiative which provides advice, action plans, resources and recognition for administrators, coaches and parents who want the kids in their towns to get the most out of their youth sports experience. Dodge is the presenting sponsor of the program.

Brunswick, Maine and the seven other winning communities were selected for implementing the most effective youth-focused sports programs. Joining Brunswick as honorees were El Paso, TX, Glendale, AZ, Greeley, CO, Howard County, MD, Rocky River, OH, Sterling, IL and St. Andrew’s Parish, SC.
