Mature Forest Stand

This 120 + year old stand includes white pine with diameters that exceed 27 inches, red oaks that push 25 inches in diameter, and both red spruce and white birch that top 22 inches in diameter.  Although relatively small in size, the feeling when in this stand is one of awe.  Old forest stands are becoming less and less common in the landscape of Southern Maine and this stand is likely one of the oldest in Brunswick.  Princes Point Partners realized the importance of this area and included it in the conservation land set aside in the Misery Point Subdivision on Princes Point Road.

Salt Marsh Finger above Long Reach

A small stream bisects the Misery Point conservation land and forms a salt marsh meadow at the head of Long Reach Cove.  This estuary and adjacent uplands protected as part of this project act as an important buffer for the valuable shellfish beds of Long Reach Cove.
