Adult Pick-Up Sports
Due to concerns surrounding COVID19 we will not be offering pick-up soccer or rugby this summer.
Is your life too busy to join a sports league but you still enjoy getting out to play sports? Would you like to get some exercise, enjoy a little competition but not have to commit to a long season? We are organizing some pick up games at Wildwood Field and Harriet Beecher Stowe School Field this summer to offer adults the opportunity to play a sport they enjoy or to try a sport they may have never tried before. Wildwood Field is located off of Basswood Road, close to Cooks Corner.
Please be careful to follow all parking rules while using this field. The Field is located in a subdivision so please drive slow and lookout for people near the roadway. Harriet Beecher Stowe School is located at the corner of McKeen and Stanwood Streets. Outdoor offerings for the summer of 2019 are being organized and once a firm schedule is developed those times will be listed.
Pick-Up Coed Soccer at Wildwood Field
This summer soccer is being held Tuesday evenings starting at 6 p.m. Bring a dark and light shirt, cleats, a ball if you have one and some water. Men and women welcome.
Pick-Up Coed Touch Rugby at Harriet Beecher Stowe School
Beginning June 11th rugby will be held Tuesday evenings starting at 6 p.m. Have you ever wanted to try Rugby? This is a great opportunity to learn a new fun and safe sport. Instead of full contact, coed touch rugby uses low impact tag around the hips to stop the runner. Check out this video for an example of how the sport is played.
Each night various team "games" are played to promote team communication and fun with each evening typically ending in a game of touch rugby. Rugby is easier to understand then you might think, run the ball forward, pass the ball backwards, don’t get tagged, score in the end zone! Stop by and check it out! Bring a dark and light shirt, cleats if you have them and some water.
Pick-Up Pickleball at the Recreation Center
Held most mornings and most evenings at the Recreation Center. There is a $2 fee for Brunswick Residents and a $3 fee for non-residents. Introductory lessons are offered on Tuesday evenings. Check out the schedule for available times. For more information about the sport check out our pickleball page.
