The Parks and Recreation Department is saddened to inform you that we have made the tough decision to not offer a preschool program for the 2020-21 school year. We reached this decision based on several factors, including COVID-19 related concerns for both children and staff safety and additional costs to run the program due to increased virus mitigation efforts, as well as the uncertainty of demand and low current enrollment numbers based on to the new Kate Furbish School offering for Pre-K for Brunswick children.
We apologize for the inconvenience this will undoubtedly cause some families and hope that our community will be in a place next fall that would allow us to safely and feasibly offer Parks & Recreation Department Preschool for the 2021-2022

About the Preschool
The Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department Preschool is a licensed, half day (9 to 11:30 a.m.), early childhood program for 3 to 5 year olds with a focus on socialization and learning through play. For children that will be three years old by October 15, 2019 may currently enroll for fall in our 2, 3, or 5-day programs.
Through a structured environment with supportive adults, the children are encouraged to try new things, learn by doing, dare to make decisions and even mistakes, and grow through these experiences.
The goal of the preschool is for each child to have a positive preschool experience that fosters self-confidence. We have two classrooms divided by general age group. There are 15 to 17 children in each class. The teacher and assistant in each room make an experienced, caring team.
The Preschool has a daily use of the gym or Edwards Field playground. The gym is a feature especially appreciated during the winter. Field trips are scheduled throughout the school year, such as the Arctic Museum, and the Rocky Ridge Orchard. Transportation is provided by a Brunswick School Department School Bus equipped with car seats. In addition, special visitors may include singers, firefighters, librarians and storytellers.
Our School is a designated nut-free environment. In the classroom we have taken steps to ensure the safety of children with food allergies. We do not accept snacks from home. We do not serve snacks that contain nuts, traces of nuts or those that have been prepared with equipment that has also processed nuts. If you have any questions regarding this or any other dietary concerns, please see one of the teachers. Thank you in advance for your help to make your child's classroom safe for everyone.
The Brunswick Parks and Recreation Preschool Program offers two spacious, age-appropriate classrooms and a full size gymnasium with indoor track that creates an environment perfect for learning and having fun.
