Roads Closed to Heavy Loads

The town has posted its annual closing of certain town roads to any vehicle or combination of vehicles registered for a gross weight of over 23,000 pounds.

The Public Works Department annually posts certain roads to protect them from pavement damage caused by heavy truck traffic during early spring thaw conditions.

Certain vehicles, such as public utility, emergency, school buses, and heating fuel trucks (operating in accordance with a permit issued by the Maine Department of Transportation) are exempt. All other vehicles exceeding the weight limit are prohibited from traveling on these roads unless obtain a permit issued by the Public Works Department.

Road postings will be pulled on Friday, April 3.
